NORKA Pravasi ID Card
Your Gateway to Seamless Connectivity with Kerala Government

The NORKA Pravasi ID card serves as a comprehensive solution for non-resident Keralites to establish a direct link with the Kerala Government. This versatile photo identity card not only provides access to all current and future services and facilities offered by NORKA Roots but also includes an additional Personal Accident Insurance coverage of up to Rs. 4 Lakhs for cases of unfortunate demise. The Pravasi ID card holds a validity period of 3 years.

Benefits:

  •  • Eligibility for Personal Accident Insurance coverage of Rs. 4 Lakhs for death cases and a maximum of Rs. 2 Lakhs for permanent/partial disability.

Eligibility:

  •  • Age range: 18-70 years
  •  • Residing or working abroad as a Pravasi with a valid passport and visa for a minimum of 6 months.

Documents Needed:

  •  • Copies of the front and address pages of the passport
  •  • Copy of Visa Page/Iqama/Work Permit/Residence Permit
  •  • Photo and Signature of the applicant

Renewal of Pravasi ID Card:

  •  • Renewal application can be submitted 3 months prior to the expiry date.
  •  • Submission of copies of prescribed documents and renewal fee is required.

NORKA Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy (NPRI): Critical Illness Care for NRKs

The NORKA Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy (NPRI) is designed to provide critical illness care to non-resident Keralites (NRKs).

Details of Coverage:

  •  • One Lakh for Critical Illness (as per schedule) upon producing a medical certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.
  •  • Additional benefit of Accident Insurance coverage of Rs. 2 Lakhs for life and up to Rs. 1 Lakh for permanent/partial disability.

Eligibility:

  •  • Residing or working abroad as a Pravasi with a valid passport and visa for a minimum of 6 months.
  •  • Age range: 18-60 years
  •  • Duration: One year, renewable.

Renewal:

  •  • Application for renewal can be submitted within 30 days of the expiry date.
  •  • Submission of copies of prescribed documents and renewal fee is required.

  •  • Cancer
  •  • Kidney failure (end stage renal failure)
  •  • Primary pulmonary arterial hypertension
  •  • Multiple  • sclerosis

At the core of the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board is a vision to champion the welfare of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs), extending a helping hand to all eligible individuals through the Pravasi Welfare Fund.

Mission of the Board:

Our mission is grounded in implementing comprehensive Welfare Schemes as outlined in the Non-Resident Keralites’ Welfare Act, 2008. This includes a paramount commitment to provide monthly pensions to eligible NRKs, ensuring their sustained well-being.

About Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board:

A monumental initiative by the Government of Kerala, the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board materialized through the Kerala Non-Resident Keralites’ Welfare Act, 2008. Serving as a beacon of support, the board has garnered over four lakhs NRK members. Even NRKs returning to India after two years of foreign employment can enroll and benefit from this robust Welfare Fund.

Membership Categories and Contributions:

  •  • NRKs Working Abroad (1A): Contribute Rs. 350 per month to secure your future.
  •  • NRKs Returned to Kerala (1B): Avail membership by contributing Rs. 200 per month upon your return.
  •  • NRKs Working in India, Residing Outside Kerala (2A): Join by contributing Rs. 200 per month and enjoy the benefits.

Benefits of Membership:

Pension Scheme:

 • NRKs (1A, 1B, and 2A) contributing continuously up to the age of sixty become eligible for a monthly minimum pension.

 • Long-term contributors receive additional pension for every completed year of membership, ensuring a stable post-retirement life.

 • NRKs joining after the age of fifty-five but before sixty can become eligible for pension by contributing for five years.

Pension Scheme

  1.  • Those Non-Resident Keralites’ (1A, 1B and 2A) who remitted contributions to the Welfare Fund continuously up to the age of sixty are eligible for a monthly minimum pension of Rs. 3500/- (Rupees Three Thousand and Five Hundred only) for 1A Category and Rs. 3000/- ((Rupees Three Thousand and only) For 1B and 2A Categories. after the age of sixty. The membership will be cancelled automatically if the monthly contributions are not remitted continuously for more than 12 months. They can renew the membership on payment of the arrears of subscription along with the penalty amount.

  3.  • Members, who remitted contributions continuously for more than five years, up to the age of sixty are eligible to get additional pension equivalent to three percent of the minimum pension prescribed in (i) above, for every completed year of membership over and above the minimum period of five years. However, the total pension amount thus received shall not exceed twice the amount of the minimum pension.

  5.  • NRKs who have become members to the welfare fund after the completion of fifty-five years of age but before attaining sixty years of age have to remit the monthly contribution for a period of five years to become eligible for pension. On attaining the pension age, application, (preferably online) for pension must be made.
